Senior scientist position in land surface modelling
Bioclimatology group at the Georg-August University of Göttingen, Germany Responsibilities
The candidate shall conduct research in the area of land surface models, Fluxnet data analysis and model-data fusion of biogeochemical cycle. Tasks: Development of new research proposals, publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, supervision of students, presentation of results nationally and internationally, and teaching (4 hours per week).
Requirements
Dynamic, creative and motivated scientist with PhD in environmental sciences, biogeochemistry, meteorology, physics, plant ecology, or related disciplines, previous postdoc experience is a plus. Expertise in land surface models, Fluxnet data analysis and model-data fusion of biogeochemical cycles required. Strong relevant publication record in that area needed. Good knowledge of English as working language is essential, Knowledge of German a plus. Driving license required.
Benefits
We offer a 3-year senior scientist position with possibility of extension by 3 years in an international research group focusing on biosphere-atmosphere interactions using micrometeorological measurements, stable isotopes, and land surface modelling at one of the top universities in Germany (www.uni-goettingen.de/bioclimatology<http://www.uni-goettingen.de/bioclimatology>). The candidate has the opportunity to develop his/her own research profile and to write a habilitation thesis. For candidates with less experience this position can also be filled on a postdoc level. Salary and social benefits are provided according to German rules (E 13 TV-L) and depend on previous research experiences.
