Research Associate in GIS and Earth Observation – The University of Manchester

The department of Geography at the University of Manchester are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to play a key role in delivering an exciting new NERC-funded project “Toward a UK Fire Danger Rating System: Understanding Fuels, Fire Behaviour and Impacts” (www.ukfdrs.com).
You will be experienced in environmental and geographical information science with strong knowledge of Earth Observation techniques. Experience of pre- and post-processing of Earth Observation data is essential. You will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) Dr Gareth Clay and UoM Co-Investigator Dr Gail Millin-Chalabi as well as the other academic investigators and non-academic partners.
In addition to research duties, it is expected that you will also contribute to the overall project management and administration in conjunction with the PI, including organising project meetings, website management, and partner liaison. Where necessary, you will also work with other investigators and partners in the organization and running of fieldwork, events and workshops.
