Xylem International Meeting

Bordeaux, France. 7-9 September 2015

Besides the usual sections about plant hydraulics (cavitation resistance, Xylem anatomy, methods, etc.), this edition will be focused on

i) the role of Carbon starvation and Hydraulic failure in drought-induced tree mortality;

ii) the Genetic Basis of Drought Tolerance.

An entire section will be dedicated to these topics with four keynote speakers on the matter: Maurizio Mencuccini, Henrik Hartmann, Federico Magnani and Christophe Plomion. We also expect the attendance of many other specialists on plant hydraulics and xylem anatomy.
The program will include short oral presentations (17’+3’) by the participants. As the amount of oral talks will be limited, a poster session will be also organized with the aim of covering as many plant hydraulics and xylem anatomy areas as possible.

All participants are invited to submit an abstract (Max. 200 words) before May 15th for a contributed oral or poster presentation. For a smooth organization we kindly ask to fill, before March 31st, the Google Doc file you will find following the link on The Journal of Plant Hydraulics website (https://www6.inra.fr/jph). The instructions and a template for the abstract submission are also available in this site.
The meeting will take place at the INRA-Centre Bordeaux Aquitaine (Villenave-d’Ornon, France) and there will be no registration fee. Unfortunately, we have not sufficient funding to assist with the attendance costs, so each participant must arrange and fund his own travel and hosting costs.  However, the organization will cover the lunches (served at the INRA’s canteen), the coffee breaks and a Bordeaux Wine Tasting organized for the 8th of September.
As an output of the meeting, we plan a special issue in The Journal of Plant Hydraulics. You are therefore kindly invited to submit manuscripts. The deadline will be announced at the meeting, but we predict it to be around December 2015.
