The Unit “Climate Change and Air Quality” provides scientific support for the development and monitoring of European policies in the area of climate change. In this context, the capacity to model GHG emission from forests at EU MS level, consistently with IPCC/UNFCCC requirements for LULUCF (Land Use Land Use Change and Forestry), is currently being developed by the action “Biosphere, Climate and Human Interactions” in collaboration with the action “Forest”.
In the long term, an integrated modeling framework needs to be developed in order to assess the overall impacts of future EU policies on land use emissions. This requires establishing stable and consistent links between economic, land use allocation, agriculture and forest models.
In this context, the objective of the project is to support the development of an integrated modeling framework by linking the existing ongoing work on forest modeling to economic and land use allocation models existing at JRC.
