In particular, the appointed researcher will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing projects and activities focusing on mountain forests dynamics and response to climate change, plant physiology and spatial ecology. The successful candidate will also teach courses and advise students. The expected teaching load is 60 hours per academic year.

Depending upon the candidate’s background and interests, research areas will possibly include:

  • Forest dynamics and recovery following natural and anthropogenic disturbances;
  • Tree physiology and traits adaptation to climate change;
  • Temporal dynamics of forest production and growth;
  • Development and application of quantitative analytical methods to large ecological datasets
    for improving the understanding of tree ecophysiology;
  • Scaling tree physiological responses from cells to ecosystems by using in-situ
    measurements, models, and remote measurements;
  • Manipulation experiments in forest ecosystems, with particular reference to nitrogen
    deposition;
