Ozone is the air pollutant of most concern to forests and is also a significant greenhouse gas. Climate change factors favour ozone formation and ozone effects on vegetation increase plant predisposition to climatic stressors. The interlinkages between ozone and climate change are thus topical. The conference aims at: summarising the state-of-the-art of ozone science and forest protection from ozone; suggesting the best criteria for monitoring and modelling ozone impacts on forest ecosystems; and developing prospects for research and protection.
The Conference is sponsored by COST Action FP0903 Climate change and Forest Mitigation and Adaptation in a polluted environment (MAFOR).
Any scientist is welcome to contribute. Although the focus is on forests, useful insights can come from crop science. Contributions from any field of plant science are thus welcome.
