4th Xylem International Meeting (25-25 Sept 2019)

The 4th Xylem International Meeting (XIM4) will take place at the Botanical Garden of the University of Padua on 25-27 September 2019. The participation is limited to 100 people. Convegno “APR laser scanner per applicazioni forestali: esperienze a confronto e lezioni apprese” (Trento 13/09/2018)

I dati LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) rilevati da aereo rappresentano la tipologia – tra quelli telerilevati – più adatta per finalità di inventariazione forestale così come largamente dimostrato da studi iniziati ormai da un ventennio. La scansione laser aerea ha, infatti, determinato la possibilità di utilizzare la terza dimensione nel contesto forestale. Solo in epoca relativamente recente si è iniziato ad impiegare anche dati LiDAR terrestri ottenuti da sensori laser su piattaforma non mobile, ma statica, montata a terra. La Fondazione per la Flora Italiana insieme a SBI, UZI, SItE, SISEF, SISV e l’Accademia di Scienze Forestali organizzano una tavola rotonda con la Direzione Generale delle Foreste del MIPAAF dedicata alla tutela, alla pianificazione ecologica e alla gestione sostenibile delle nostre risorse forestali. Scopo di questo incontro è promuovere il dibattito tra naturalisti, biologi, forestali ed ecologi per mettere in evidenza il ruolo essenziale delle conoscenze scientifiche nell’attuazione del «Testo unico in materia di foreste e filiere forestali (GU Serie Generale n.92 del 20-04-2018)».

EGU2018 (Vienna, Austria – 8-13 Apr 2018) – Call for abstracts

Changing climate conditions are known to influence forest tree growth response and the CO2 cycle. Dendroclimatological research has shown that the climate signal, species composition, and growth trends have changed in different types of forest ecosystems during the last century. Under current and demonstrated changes in climate variability at the geographic, regional, and local levels tree growth shows also variability and trends that can be non-stationary during time even at relatively short distance between sites. In forest planning and management, yield tables, site quality indices, age class, rate of growth, and spatial distribution are some of the most used tools and parameters. However, these methods do not involve climate variability during time although climate is the main driver in trends of forest and tree growth. Previous research warns about the risk that forest management under changing climatic conditions could amplify their negative effects.
