JRC – Position in modeling the forest carbon dynamics
The JRC Directorate for Sustainable Resources has published a vacancy for the auxiliary contract staff position FG IV Project officer in the field of modeling the forest carbon dynamics in the EU.

https://ec.europa.eu/jrc/en/working-with-us/jobs
Deadline: 09/08/2017, 23h59 (Brussels time)
The vacancy is within the Bioeconomy Unit (located in Ispra, Italy), which provides scientific support to EU policies related to the bio-economy, such as the sustainable production and use of biological resources, including EU policies related to Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF).
In particular, we use the Carbon Budget Model (CBM), a forest inventory-based model capable to represent the impact of human-induced and natural disturbances on the dynamics of the various carbon pools, to support the verification of LULUCF GHG inventories of EU Member States and the design and implementation of EU LULUCF policies.
We propose a challenging and stimulating position in the science-policy interface, for a dynamic researcher in the field of forest carbon modelling.
The main tasks of the selected candidate will consist of the following:
- Provide scientific support on forest modelling using the Carbon Budget Model, including performing model runs at country level for relevant policy and scientific scenarios.
- Support the JRC in the development and implementation of the integrated modelling framework supporting the EU bioeconomy.
- Produce scientific publications
