L’afforestazione viene da più parti invocata come una delle più efficaci soluzioni per sottrarre carbonio dall’atmosfera e mitigare la crisi climatica; di conseguenza, da alcuni anni stiamo assistendo a un fiorire di progetti finalizzati alla creazione di nuovi impianti, soprattutto in zone periurbane, di pianura e collina, senza un preventivo dibattito scientifico sul loro possibile impatto. Abbiamo voluto per questo fare un sommario degli studi disponibili al riguardo per gli ambienti italiani, in modo da definire un intervallo di valori realisticamente ottenibili.
