Key Functions

  • Collect and analyse relevant technical, social, economic, environmental, institutional and technology related information, data and/or statistics to support the delivery of programme projects, products and services.
  • Undertake analysis, provide technical input for plans and reports and edit/revise technical/scientific documents.
  • Participate in the development of improved work methods, tools and systems.
  • Update databases and web pages.
  • Participate on multi-disciplinary project/work teams.
  • Collaborate in the development of training tools and materials and the organization of workshops/seminars, etc.
  • Participate in the organization, conduct and follow-up of meetings, consultations and conferences, the development/production of required materials and the provision of information and assistance to partners.

Specific Functions

  • Contribute to FAO’s work on forest hydrology and watershed management, including generation and sharing of knowledge on forest, soil and water interactions, highland-lowland linkages, social, legal and policy issues, forest-water monitoring and reporting, and integrated landscape approaches at multiple levels.
  • Work in close collaboration with relevant institutions on bolstering knowledge and capacities related to forest hydrology and watershed management, including in the context of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and other global development agendas.
  • Contribute to the development of training, capacity building and communication materials (e.g. publications, newsletters, website updates) on forest hydrology and watershed management.
  • Support and participate in, as appropriate, international and national dialogues related to highland-lowland linkages, forest and water interactions, and watershed management.
  • Provide technical inputs to the planning, formulation and implementation of field projects.
  • Support the Mountain Partnership Secretariat in the delivery of their work as relates to watershed management and highland-lowland linkages.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
