Position available at INRA
The Grassland Ecosystem Research Unit (UREP) of the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) is opening a 20-month position for a graduate in the area of grassland modelling at Clermont-Ferrand (France).
This position is framed and funded within the EU LIFE project PASTORALP, started in 2017. The target systems are Alpine pasturelands located in the national parks of Gran Paradiso (Italy) and Écrins (France). We are looking for a highly motivated individual, passionate about the study areas, with high commitment to the modelling work, able to work independently, good collaborative skills and interest to engage in an international work team. The candidate is required to know the functioning of grassland systems and is expected to handle with pixelated data (e.g. NetCDF format) using automatic tools for data processing (e.g. R-scripts). English will be the working language (knowledge of French is desirable). Under the supervision of a software engineer, the selected candidate will use the Pasture Simulation model (PaSilm), integrated within a modelling platform, to launch pixelated simulations under projected scenarios of climate change. The generated outputs will be used to perform an analysis of vulnerability in the two study areas, aimed at identifying alternative management practices to cope with foreseen climatic changes.
People interested in this position may send an e-mail to Gianni Bellocchi (gianni.bellocchi@inra.fr) with a CV and a letter of interest.
